SDAT

What is SDAT?

SDAT is an initiative led by Derbyshire Police in conjunction with Social Services, Health Services, schools and other agencies, who work together to safeguard children and adults.
Domestic Abuse can encompass but is not limited to the following types of abuse:

  • Psychological
  • Physical
  • Sexual
  • Financial
  • Emotional

SDAT is an early notification system to schools to quickly notify them of any incidents of domestic abuse where the Police have attended a household where children live.

This enables schools to understand changes in a child’s behaviour, attitude or general presentation and to support children if needed.

Our school is part of Operation Encompass

which is a national scheme that operates jointly between schools and police forces.

Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day,

when a child or young person has experienced domestic abuse.

As a school we have ensured that the Designated Safeguarding Lead has been trained in the

Operation Encompass procedures allowing us to then use the information that has been shared,

in confidence, to support the child/ren in our care.
